Aleksander Kwaśniewski, President of Poland 1995 - 2005
Aleksander Kwaśniewski is the former President of the Republic of Poland (1995 – 2005). He participated in the famous “Round-Table” negotiations in Poland that finally brought the peaceful transformation of Poland and the whole Central and Eastern Europe from communism to democracy. He won the presidential elections for the first time in 1995, starting against Lech Walesa. Co-author of the new democratic Constitution of Poland, which he signed into law on July 16th, 1997. A great advocate of Poland’s membership in both NATO and the European Union. It was under his leadership that Poland finally joined NATO in 1999. He is an active supporter of further alliance enlargement under the "open door" policy. A strong proponent of European integration, Kwaśniewski campaigned for approval of the European Union accession treaty in 2003, and saw Poland become a member on May 1, 2004. Aleksander Kwaśniewski was one of the leading figures in European Politics. Author of numerous local and regional initiatives, decisively joined the global war on terror and backed the decision to send Polish troops to the war against Saddam Hussein. Long – standing supporter of Ukraine’s independence and sovereignty, Aleksander Kwaśniewski inspired the international mediation efforts during the Orange Revolution, helping the young democracy in Ukraine to prevail. During his Presidency, he couragesly confronted the past, significantly contributing to the reconciliation between Poles and the German, Jewish and Ukrainian people.

Andrzej Majkowski, Chairman of the Board
Born on September 8, 1939 in Warsaw. Graduated from Warsaw University, Faculty of Geography) in 1964. 1963-1972 activist of the youth movements: ZSP ( Polish Students’ Association) and ZMS (Socialist Youth Union), i.a. as the Secretary and the Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of the ZMS National Council. In 1969-1973 President of the Polish Athletic Federation. From 1972 till 1992 he held various posts in the Ministry of Foreign Affaires: First Secretary in the Embassy in Moscow, Counselor in the Embassy in India, Deputy Director of Department of Asia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of Poland in Thailand, Birma and Philippines, Deputy Director and Director of Department of Asia, Africa, Australia, and Oceania in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the years 1988-1992 member of the Presidium of the Polish Olympic Committee. In 1995 President of the Board of Directors of the “Kurier Polski newspaper; 1996 President of the Supervisory Council of S.L. Lucas S.A. Company . Since January 3, 1996 till December 2005 Under-Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, responsible for international affairs.
Since February 1989 up to today Chairman of the Council of Polish Athletic Foundation, from 1988 Chairman of the Board of Children and Youth Sport Association, since 1997 Chairman of the Board of Association ‘Poland-Republic of Korea’, from April 2006 Chairman of the Board “Amicus Europae Foundation” and from June 2006 Chairman of the Commission for International Cooperation of the Polish Olympic Committee.

Ireneusz Bil, Director
Graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics and the National Security Studies Program at the Warsaw University. Ph.D. in Economics in 2005. Assistant Professor at the World Economy Research Institute of the Warsaw School of Economics. In the period 1997 – 2004 he held various positions in the National Security Bureau, European Integration Office and Office for International Affairs at the Chancellery of the President of Poland. 2005 – 2006 he was Deputy Director and then Acting Director of the Office for International Affairs at the Chancellery of the President of Poland. Participant of study and scholarship programs of the US State Department, Bertelsmann Foundation and Zeit Foundation. Conventional Forces in Europe’s (CFE) International Inspector with numerous inspections held in Poland and abroad. The author of more than 20 articles on international economic relations, international security and European integration. Speaks English, German and Russian.
