Conference of Vienna with President Kwasniewski participation.

On the 15th of March 2009 President<strong> Aleksander Kwasniewski took part in a debate “Where Are Europe’s Borders?”, that was organized by the Institute for Human Sciences and it took place in Burgtheater in Vienna.
The Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) is an institute for advanced study in the humanities and social sciences based in Vienna. Founded in 1982 by a group of young scholars, the IWM’s purpose is to broach new and sometimes contested topics of societal relevance and to forge international connections among scholars and intellectuals from different societies and fields. The focus of attention has expanded over the years and now covers not only the new members of the European Union but also their own eastern and southern neighbours.
The main issue of the debate was the Eastern enlargement of the European Union and it’s impact, both political and geographical context. Guests were discussing expanding borders of European Union including the matter of Turkey as a candidate country.

The debate was moderated by Alexandra Föderl-Schmid, Editor in Chief of "Der Standard" and among guests apart from President<strong> Kwasniewski were also Nino Burjanadze, professor for International Law, Founder and Chairperson of the Opposition Party “Democratic Movement, United Georgia”, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy and Cem Özdemir, Co-Leader of the German Green Party.
